Step 1: Initial Contact and Scheduling

After the appointment is scheduled, we’ll confirm the time and location through your preferred communication method (email or call/text). This helps us make sure everything goes smoothly from the very start.

Step 2: Free In-Home Consultation

When the CVP Window & Door consultant arrives, they’ll confirm your contact details and review the area you want to address. This is our opportunity to understand your goals, whether it’s replacing a rotted window, upgrading to energy-efficient patio doors, or enhancing a room with new windows or doors.

During the 30-60 minute consultation, we’ll discuss recommended solutions, explain the pros and cons, and take basic sizes and photos to provide an accurate estimate. All customers receive information on warranties, product features & benefits, and available financing options.

By the end of the appointment, you and the consultant will review the initial CVP process and next action steps . Before leaving, the consultant will schedule a follow-up appointment to review your customized quote.

Step 3: Review the Quote

This step is crucial, as CVP ensures that customers feel confident and fully understand their estimate before making a decision. The scheduled quote review can take place either at your home or at our Newport News, VA plant (where you can also take a tour if you’re interested!). During this appointment, the itemized quote will break down each cost, confirm the products you’ve selected, and outline the labor required to complete your project. This is a time to review the scope of work and discuss any concerns, revisions or further education about our custom window replacement and installation process. 

At this stage, CVP will answer any questions you may have and ensure that the quote aligns with the goals and details discussed during your initial consultation. Our priority is to make sure you feel completely confident and comfortable before moving forward with your project.

Step 4: Finalizing the Agreement & Payment Options

After reviewing the quote, we understand you may need time to consider your options, and that’s perfectly fine, the quote is valid for a minimum of 30 days. Your CVP window and door consultant will routinely follow-up and be readily available to answer any questions that may arise as you evaluate your decision. 

Once you’re ready to move forward, CVP will arrange a meeting to finalize and sign the installed sales agreement. If you need any revisions, we can accommodate adjustments as necessary. Our team is always here to assist, and you’re welcome to reach out to either your consultant directly or our main office for support.

Agreement and Payment Process

After we review the agreement together and collect your signature, CVP will process your deposit. Payment options include check, cash, or credit card. We also offer flexible financing plans with no-payment-upfront, and for those who qualify, 0% financing is available. If you’re eligible, our billing department will guide you through the financing setup.

Additionally, CVP provides various discounts, such as savings for customers paying by cash or check, and special discounts for teachers, military personnel, and first responders.

Step 5: Precise Measurements for Production & Installation

After signing the contract and submitting your deposit, our installation manager will visit your home to take the final, precise measurements. Since CVP manufactures your custom vinyl windows and sliding patio doors, these measurements are essential to ensure your new products are a perfect fit for your property.

During this visit, the installation manager will explain the installation process in detail, sharing their expertise to ensure you’re confident about the next steps. Clear communication is at the heart of our service, and we take pride in keeping customers well-informed about what to expect.

After finalizing the measurements, the installation manager will provide an estimated installation time frame. Once production is completed, we will promptly arrange for the installation of your custom windows and/or doors.

We achieve this STC rating based on a standard glass unit consisting of two panes of ⅛” glass separated by a ½” argon filled air pocket. Many homeowners comment on how their homes are noticeably quieter after we install our standard replacement windows.

  We also offer an upgraded STC window package on our Ecolutions window profile with an STC rating of 34-36. This window profile accommodates a thicker 1” glass unit consisting of a 3/16” pane of exterior glass, a ¼” laminated interior pane, and a wider 9/16” argon filled air pocket. If you’re thinking about replacement windows in Hampton, you may be surprised to learn that “new construction” windows are an option. We build windows for “new construction” and typical replacement (or retrofit) applications.

In this article, we discuss the differences between replacement windows vs new construction windows to help you decide what is right for your older home.

New Construction Windows vs. Replacement Windows: What’s the Difference?

The difference between a new construction window and a replacement window is easy to spot. Look for the nail fin – a thin, flat vinyl edge around the perimeter of the window with evenly spaced holes. New construction windows include this design feature, also called “nailing flange.” Replacement windows do not.

During a new construction project or building addition, windows are installed before the siding and trim. The nail fin makes it possible for vinyl windows to be set into the rough opening, sills are flashed, caulked behind the nail fin, and the window is nailed directly to the sheathing. Once secure, the nail fin is taped, providing a secure, watertight seal.

Our CVP high-performance vinyl windows are available either with or without nail fin, suitable for new construction or replacement window applications.

When “New Construction” Replacement Windows Make Sense

It sounds like a misnomer, but “new construction” windows can be used as replacement windows in an older home. Remember, with this method, your trim and siding will be removed to expose the rough opening. If inside trim is involved, this can be a more invasive and costly option. However, it can be the right choice under certain conditions.

Choosing windows for new construction or replacement windows in new construction can be a challenging task, but our window specialists can help you assess the condition of your home. We often recommend “new construction” replacement windows in these situations:

• Your windows are leaking: A “new construction” installation removes damaged materials and restores the moisture barrier to your window openings.
• Your home has aluminum windows and vinyl siding 
• You plan to replace your siding along with the windows

We do not recommend “new construction” windows for homes with brick, stucco, or aluminum siding.
